About this event
Join Tutorage for our Trending SEN Science Sessions! We have a set of different exciting sessions, which are run by expert tutors and professional teachers. Each session is 4 hours of fun and educational activities exploring science through the latest TikTok/Reel science trends designed for 11-16 year olds.
We will running a SEN targeted science course AQA award in social media science - viral experiments do they work? Each session will cover the latest online experiments which we will attempt, learning about the science behind them. Producing evidence which will then go towards achieving a AQA unit award.
Please note in order to achieve the award students will need to attend a minimum of 3 sessions and there will be a cost of 30.00 to register your child.
Each Session has different activities linked to a scientific topic. You can book on any that you find interesting or do them all!
Goos and Slimes: A firm favourite where students will be making lots of slime and testing social media trending experiments by discovering why some viral ideas dont work and recreating the ones that do.
Magic Metals: A hands-on session where youll mess around with some seriously cool materials - metals that melt in your hand (gallium), smart metals that change shape, colourful bismuth crystals, and magnetic tricks like making water spin - while finding out why metals dont always behave the way you expect.
Kaleidoscopes and Illusions: All about mind-bending magic with light! Students will explore dazzling optical illusions, create their own kaleidoscopes, and try tricks that make light twist, turn, and even disappear - a fun way to see science and magic collide
Environmental: A hands-on session where teens get up close with nature, learning about different habitats, building their own mini plant terrariums, and experimenting with renewable energy like wind turbines all while discovering how we can care for the planet and make a real difference.
Space: A discovery of space travel and robot design looking at smart materials and making a simple quirky mars rover that draws on the floor. A social media favourite
The sound lab: An investigation into sound and waves looking at musical trends and making an airzooka - trying to scare the local wildlife with a sonic boom!
Formula one design: An opportunity to make and design your own formula one car and race it using ideas from social media
Surprise surprise: Join us for our final surprise session where you will not know what will happen unless you come!
All sessions will include exploring and discovering the park, the animals and plants
Please note that the club is a drop off session as we are limited for space. If you have a child that needs you to remain then please contact us and we will try to accommodate if we have space
